Program Description
Trent’s multidisciplinary Media Studies program helps you understand the culture behind the media we consume, focusing on the impact media has on us all.
This hands-on program features a variety of course options in the arts and sciences, providing opportunities to examine the influence of advertising and ideology, the political economy of media corporations, the foundations of media arts, and the ecological impact of media technologies.
Practical experience is a major component of this degree, with workshop courses in everything from game design and music production to podcasting and photography.

- Complete 12 months of paid work experience through the four-year co-op stream, which offers you three full-time work terms to work with local news media, marketing agencies, or a variety of other arts, entertainment, business, or culture organizations
- Put your learning into practice through workshops, internships, and community-based research courses, working directly with media professionals from organizations including Artspace, Global TV, Trent Radio, ReFrame Film Festival, and the Royal Academy of Dance

Admissions
Whether you're graduating from an Ontario high school, looking to study in Canada, or training for a second career, Trent has clear pathways for students to apply and be admitted to study at either of our campuses.
Requirements
If you are coming straight from high school in Ontario or are a recent grad, the general admission requirements are:
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- A minimum of six Grade 12 4U or 4M courses, including program specific prerequisites
- A minimum 70% overall final average
- ENG 4U with a minimum of 60%
Program requirements for admittance into co-op:
- A minimum 80% overall final average
