Trent Athletes of the Week

Trent Univeristy is proud to announce that Scott Farrow is the RILEY's-JUNCTION Male Athlete of the Week for the week of February 16. Mr. Farrow, a Trent Excalibur swimmer, finished in fourth place in the 50-metre Fly, as well as helped the Excalibur earn an eighth-place finish in the 200-metre Medley, at the OUA Swimming Championships, held in Ottawa. Mr. Farrow hails from Missisauga, Ontario, and is a third-year Biology student.

Trent University is proud to announce that Jessica Madder is the Female Athlete of the Week for February 16. Ms. Madder, a Trent Excalibur swimmer, finished in seventh place in the 50-metre back at the OUA Swimming Championships, held in Ottawa. Ms. Madder hails from Newmarket, Ontario and is a first-year Psychology student.

Babaris Swims to Bronze

The Trent Excalibur Swim team competed at the OUA Championships this past weekend in Ottawa. Leading the way were veterans, Alex Babaris and Scott Farrow. Mr. Babaris, the defending champion in the 50-metre Fly, earned the bronze this year (25.67), while Mr. Farrow, battling a hernia, finished a close fourth (25.77). Mr. Babaris also finished in fourth place in the 100m Fly (56.48). The Trent 200-metre medley consisting of Mr. Babaris, Alex Delory, Mr. Farrow, and freshman Anthony Ferri, finished in eighth place (1:49.30). Mr. Babaris also swam a CIS qualifying time in the 200-metre Fly (2:08.82).

On the women's side, freshman Jessica Madder led the way with a seventh-place finish in the 50-metre back (32.44). Both Mr. Farrow and Mr. Babaris will compete in the CIS Championships March 5 -7 at the University of Toronto.

Trent Volleyball

The Trent Excalibur volleyball team traveled to Sudbury for OCAA action this past weekend. Trent defeated College Boreal Friday night 3-0 (25-19, 25-9, 26-14). Leading the way was Nicole Rodziewicz with six kills, five blocks and one ace for 12 points.

In Saturday's game, Trent lost to Cambrian, the defending national champions, by a score of three to one (25-12, 25-11, 23-25, 25-14). Leading the way was, St. Peter's graduate, Becki Rodin, who contributed five points (three kills, one block, one ace) from the setter's position. Trent (7-8) finishes the season in fourth place in the east division.
