Trent Athletes of the Week Trent University is proud to announce that Alex Babaris is the RILEY'S-JUNCTION Male Athlete of the Week, for the week of November 24 - November 30. Alex finished 8th in Canada in the 100m fly, with a time of 55.31, at the Canadian National short course Championships, Alex also swam to a 13th place finish in the 50m fly in a time of 25.59. Babaris hails from Toronto, and is a 4th year History student. Trent University is proud to announce that Nicole Rodziewicz is the RILEY'S-JUNCTION Female Athlete of the Week, for the week of November 24 - November 30. Nicole, the starting middle for the women's volleyball team, had 6 kills, 1 block, and 2 aces, for a total of 9 points versus the 2nd place Loyalist Lancers last week in OCAA volleyball action. Rodziewicz hails from Toronto, Ontario and is a 4th year Biology / Chemistry student. Trent Swimmers Compete at Nationals Trent University swim team members, Alex Babaris and Scott Farrow, traveled to Laval, Quebec this past weekend to compete in the short course Senior National Swimming Championships. Representing the Trent Swim club, Babaris finished 8th in the country in the 100m Fly, in a time of 55.31. "It was a great swim for Alex," said coach Sean Dwyer. "It's a big step in establishing himself as a top swimmer in the country." Babaris also finished 13th in the 50m fly with a time of 25.59. Farrow wasn't far behind in 25th place, 25.96. With the majority of competitors much older than Scott and Alex, the two Trent swimmers had an impressive showing at Laval. "Considering that Alex and Scott have only been competitively swimming for three and two years respectively, this is a tremendous showing, and something to build on for the rest of the season." Trent Swimmers will resume competitions in the new year. Freshman Ends X-Country Season Trent University freshman Lee Appleby ended his x-country season Saturday, November 29, with a 61st place finish at the Canadian National X-Country Championships, at Sunnybrook Park in Toronto. Appleby finished the 8km course in 28:28. Lee, competing for the Peterborough Legion, battled the tough conditions, to help the Legion finish in 19th place in the junior men's division.
