Traditions
College Weekends
College Weekends have long been a highlight on the Lady Eaton calendar. In past years, the weekends have been home to pumpkin carving, bonfires, movie nights, gingerbread decorating, caroling, formal dinners, broomball tournaments, and an event so secret, you have to attend to find out more!
Orientation Week
Orientation Week (formerly known as ISW) is a long-standing tradition across Trent University. This week-long event is designed to get new students acquainted with the school, staff, faculty, and other students.
This week is staffed by upper-year student volunteers and is filled with several new and traditional events to welcome both on-campus and off-campus students into their College and the Trent community.
There is something for everyone during Orientation Week! Learn more about Orientation Week and Summer Orientation events.
Celebration of Excellence
This event honours academic excellence achieved by our students and fellows. Students who have achieved an 80% average or higher in the previous school year are invited to this event to celebrate their academic accomplishments.
Faculty members are invited to present on their latest research, and share their recent scholarly publications. Light refreshments are provided and students receive a certificate from the College.
Lady Eaton College typically has over 300 honours certificate recipients every year!
Lady Eaton College Art Auction
The art auction provides the opportunity for students and fellows within the College to showcase artwork that they have created. The art is displayed for two consecutive days in the Pit where students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to stop in to appreciate the talent and bid on any art pieces that appeal to them.
All funds raised are returned in full to the artists.
Seeley Women in Leadership Luncheon
This annual event commemorates the College’s founding Principal, Marjory Seeley-Rogers, whose leadership and dedication turned Lady Eaton College into the thriving community it is today. Thus, this event was created to acknowledge and celebrate female leadership within Lady Eaton College and the Trent community.
This event takes place on International Women’s Day each year and typically includes a keynote speaker who is Lady Eaton College Alumna, as well as a luncheon.
Photography Contest
The annual photo contest takes place in the second term. Lady Eaton College students have the opportunity to submit photos that represent Lady Eaton College to be voted on by a committee made up of our staff and faculty. The top three winners are announced and receive prizes.
