Dr. Toad PhD - the Mascot
The official mascot of Lady Eaton College is Dr. Toad.
Although the mascot was only officially selected on October 1, 1993, it has been with the College for much longer.
When the dining hall was officially opened in January 1969, the dons of the College signed their address in the guest book as “Toad Hall.” This was a reference to where the toad lives in the book The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame.
When the College Crest was officially heralded in 1989, a toad with 2 swords behind it became the College badge. Since then, the Toad has stuck around as a symbol of Lady Eaton College. It is a regular face on our TikTok channel and is even a part of one of the university’s longest-running traditions which takes place in LEC every spring. Beware the Toad!
