Interested students are invited to apply to the Professional Years, which is comprised almost exclusively of Social Work Classes.
The Professional Years can be completed on a full-time or part-time basis. Full-time students will complete the Professional Years over two consecutive years (4 academic terms), and part-time students will complete the Professional Years over two and a half consecutive years (6 academic terms.)
Please note that only students with a transfer credit for the SWRK-3000Y field placement are eligible for the part-time study option. Both options use the same application. For more information on applying to the Professional Years, please consult the Admissions Package.
Field Placements
- Students complete a minimum of 700 hours of supervised field placement, during the Professional Years:
- SWRK 3000Y: 3 days a week in the winter term (240 hours) and SWRK 4000D: 3 days a week over two terms (460 hours). Full-time students will complete their SWRK-4000D field placement over the fall and winter terms. Part-time students will complete their SWRK-4000D field placement over the summer and fall terms.
- Placements typically occur within an hour's travel of the student’s assigned campus.
- Students are assigned their placements based on criteria that will maximize their learning as a generalist social worker while meeting the overall demands of the program and partnering agencies.
