Trent to Host 2008 International Association for Great Lakes Research Conference |

May 2008 Event to Bring 500 Scientists and Professionals to the Area
Trent was named as host of the 2008 conference after a successful bid presentation by Dr. Chris Metcalfe, Professor of Environmental and Resource Studies, at the 2006 IAGLR conference in Windsor, Ontario in May. “The annual conference of the IAGLR in 2008 will be an excellent opportunity for Trent University to showcase the world class research being conducted by our faculty, and in particular, the work being conducted through the Worsfold Water Quality Centre, the Watershed Science Centre and the Canadian Environmental Modelling Centre, as well as the research being conducted by our colleagues with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources,” said Professor Metcalfe. The IAGLR is a scientific organization made up of researchers studying the Laurentian Great Lakes and other large lakes of the world. The main goals of the organization are to promote all aspects of large lake research and to communicate research finding through publications and meetings. The annual conference, now in its 49th year, alternates between a Canadian and U.S. site each year. The 2007 conference will be held in University Park, Pennsylvania.
