Principal's Greeting
It is an honour to welcome you to the Otonabee College community. At Otonabee College, we agree that you cannot step into the same river twice – because it is always changing. Our motto, tempora mutantur nos et mutamur in illis (the times are changing and we change with them), inspires OC students as they lead change with heart. Their passion exemplifies the name of our river and our College – “the Otonabee” – an Ojibwe word meaning “the river that beats like a heart.” We honour the steady beat of the river and its impact on surrounding life with our vision for developing a sense of belonging, service, and innovation for the Trent community.
Proud to be Trent’s largest college, OC welcomes a diverse group of learners, researchers, and practitioners to its picturesque home atop the ridge of the East Bank. Holistic wellness, sustainable equity, scientific and technological innovation, and change for a better world infuse our programs in Nursing, Education, Forensics, Psychology, Computer Studies, Anthropology and Sociology.
Otonabee College hosts several events throughout the year for students of all years to have fun and show off their OC spirit. You can learn more about what’s going on through our social media accounts and our weekly newsletter (which you will begin receiving in September). I also encourage you to visit the Otonabee College Office (OC W102) regularly, where you can access academic supports such as Academic Advising and Academic Skills, learn more about on campus resources, find students and staff who can help guide you to services or supports you may be seeking, or say ‘hi’ and enjoy a warm beverage - you might even meet Ottie, the Otonabee otter.
I look forward to meeting you soon!
Warmest best,
Stephanie
