Give Trent the Competitive Edge
to Recruit the Best Student Athletes ($100,000)
In today’s competitive university marketplace, financial incentives are proving to be
critically important in the recruitment and retention of top student athletes. To give
Trent the competitive advantage and to help entice elite athletes to pursue their
dreams at our University, the creation of a new fund to support Athletic Financial
Awards is required.
By helping to establish an Athletic Financial Award, you can play a vital role in
providing an outstanding educational and athletic experience for talented student
athletes at Trent University.
Trent is aiming to create a $100,000 endowment for Athletic Financial Awards. To double
this fund’s impact, gifts will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the government’s Ontario
Trust for Student Support (OTSS) program. As an endowment, this fund will be held in
perpetuity, meaning that Trent athletes will enjoy the benefits for years to come. In order
to be eligible for an Athletic Financial Award, a student athlete coming to Trent must have
a high school average of at least 80 per cent.
As a donor, you also have the option to create a named bursary or award in honour
of someone close to you. At Trent, the minimum endowment for an award is $25,000
and the minimum endowment for a bursary is $12,500. Therefore, with the OTSS
match, a donation of $12,500 can establish an award and a donation of $6,250 can
establish a bursary. All funds will assist student athletes with demonstrated financial
need and outstanding academic performance.
