Native Studies 30th Anniversary Association President's Message Trent's Outstanding Research Record Convocation 2000 Photo Collage What's New in Academic Programs |
by Trish McKeough '99 What a year it's been for Trent's women of the rugby persuasion!
With a record turnout of over 35 girls, some fun times and hard
hits were had by all. Coached by former player (and all around
rugby goddess) Leigh Roberton, the team did quite well, winning
five out of eight regular season games and placing first in the
Tony Emory Tournament Consolation Final. We also started a tradition
at the formal this year of handing out a new award. Entitled
the Legacy Award, it will be given to a player whose contributions
both on and off the field are exceptional and will leave a lasting
impression on the club for years to come. is year it was awarded
to pro-star extraordinaire, Karin Galldin. Next year looks like it could be even better. After a short hiatus in exhibition-game land, we will be returning to varsity status starting this fall. We will be touring in Ireland during the February reading break, and may have a limited amount of spots on our roster for interested alumni. e team is also looking to establish stronger ties with our alumni. While we have a limited number of addresses, we know there are more of you out there. If you would like to be placed on our alumni mailing list, which will contain updates on all our games and opportunities to get involved with the team, email us at twrfc@trentu.ca. Also, be sure to check out our new website at http://msnhomepages.talkcity.com/NonProfitBlvd/twrfc/. We look forward to hearing from you. So until next time, keep your heads up and your hits low. |
