New Technology Guru Don Tapscott to Speak at University/Chamber Event
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FRIDAY, MARCH 21, 2003
Trent University and the Greater Peterborough Chamber of Commerce are co-sponsoring a public event on Wednesday, March 26, that features Don Tapscott, an international authority on the application of technology in business. Mr. Tapscott will speak at 12:45 p.m. at the Holiday Inn.
Mr. Tapscott is a consultant to some of the world’s largest corporations. He is the author of nine books and speaks worldwide about business strategies and organizational transformation. The Washington Technology Report says "he is one of the most influential media authorities since Marshall McLuhan."
At the March 26 event Mr. Tapscott will discuss how businesses can position themselves to be successful in the emerging transparent economy. Globalization, rapid communications and the changing rules of civil society are shaping this new economy and affecting the way businesses develop corporate values and behaviour. Mr. Tapscott suggests that, in this environment, a new "value-based enterprise" model holds incredible potential for business leaders.
This event is the premiere Trent University Don Tapscott & Ana Lopes Business & Society Lecture. Mr. Tapscott is a graduate of Trent University. He also chaired the successful 1996-2001 Beyond Our Walls Capital Campaign, which raised $17.2 million for the University. Ana Lopes is a member of the Trent University Board of Governors and the founder of Saralex Communications.
