As your research and teaching needs evolve over time, it may become necessary to consider making alterations or renovate laboratory spaces. Science Facilities can assist you with this. While not every space can be altered or renovated to the same degree, often work can be done, services ( electrical and plumbing) added or removed that will allow your work to proceed. However, these types of alterations need to be planned and priced properly and the work needs to be done by qualified individuals to avoid serious issues. Sometimes even what appears to be the smallest alteration can have large and costly consequences.
If you believe that you may require some alterations or renovations to your space contact either Angela Sikma or Chris Williams. We will attend and discuss with you some possible solutions and we can often help to identify solutions to your needs which are appropriate and more cost effective. All alteration and renovation work in a lab must be co-ordinated through Science Facilities and the Facilities Management Department. Once we have completed an assessment we can co-ordinate with Facilities Management to get an actual quote or estimate on the proposed work and will co-ordinate with you so that the work can be completed as quickly and as unintrusively as possible.
