What does winning the President’s Medal mean to you?
This medal speaks to the strength of the Canadian Studies program and the Frost Centre for Canadian Studies. Any success I have must be attributed to the collection of amazing people at the Frost Centre who truly give of themselves for the sake of their students. It was a fun place to study and a very supportive environment.
What are your future goals?
My goal for the immediate future is to complete my first book based on my Ph.D. dissertation. When that is completed I'd like to continue to research the history of law and punishment in Canadian society. I also plan to continue teaching in these areas, attempting to interest students in the larger social issues that surround them.
What is the best thing about studying at Trent?
The quality of the research produced at the Frost Centre for Canadian Studies is world-class, creating a fertile and inspiring environment for students early in their research career. The professors at Trent create a welcoming atmosphere, quickly engaging you in the academic life of the institution. There is no divide between professors and students – this really contributes to pushing your research forward.
