M.A. in Theory, Culture and Politics
Theory, Culture and Politics (TCP) M.A. graduate Adrienne Richard describes her time at Trent as “incredibly formative.”
Looking for “a smaller but intellectually rigorous school” after completing her undergraduate degree in Halifax, Adrienne found a home at Trent, where she quickly became inspired by the quality of professors and University’s commitment to interdisciplinary study.
Working alongside Dr. Davide Panagia, Canada Research Chair in Cultural Studies, Adrienne wrote her thesis on what she describes as the “sometimes very strained relationship between sensation and language,” and explored how conventions of visual representation can offer interventions on sensation when language does not.
“I most enjoyed the opportunities for professional development that Trent, and specifically Professor Panagia, provided for the graduate students,” she says. “I also treasure the dynamic and engaging seminars and guest speakers that the Centre for Theory, Culture and Politics offered throughout my time at Trent.”
As she prepares to tackle her next challenge in life, Adrienne is excited for what the future may hold and grateful for the experiences she gained at Trent, including TCP retreat weekends at Windy Pine resort and the conferences she helped to organize over the years.
“Whatever I do, I know I will always treasure my time spent at Trent and value the friends and mentors I have met along the way,” she says.
