Forensic Science
When choosing to study Forensic Science at Trent University, recent graduate John MacMillan says he was “intrigued” by the program. “It presented an opportunity to use my aptitude for science in a way that would directly benefit people's lives,” he says, adding, “And once I visited the campus, I decided Trent was where I wanted to be.”
With ambitions of becoming involved in the field of law or politics, John has plans to start law school in the fall. In describing his plans for the future, John says, “I have a deep desire to work for justice, and to speak for those who have no one to speak for them.”
With his desire to get involved and make a difference in the lives of others, John found Trent to be a perfect fit. During his four years at the University, he was involved in many student activities and groups including Trent Walkhome, the Trent Christian Fellowship, Latin Swing and Dance Club and the concert choir. A student don for two years, John represented Trent as a delegate at the Residence Life Conference and the Canadian Conference on Student Leadership.
Looking back on his time at Trent, John says fondly, ““Being at Trent has taught me that learning and teaching go on everywhere, and that sometimes people with next to nothing in common will become the best of friends. The experiences I’ve had and the people I’ve met make me who I am today.
“When I leave, I’ll take from Trent an understanding of the importance of a well-rounded education, both inside and outside the classroom.”
