Why did you choose Trent?
I chose Trent because I am from a small town, and I really valued living and being part of a tight knit community. I had talked to people that had went to Trent and they all said that they made so many life-long friends at Trent because it was such a comfortable environment. They also noted that they had great relationships with all of their professors, which made learning so much easier.
How would you describe yourself? How would others describe you? What are your passions in life?
I am an energetic, ambitious person. I have a passion for helping others, especially children and youth. This is the reason that I am becoming a teacher. Others would describe me as a positive encourager with a winsome personality who has the ability to rally others together. A gentle, inclusive spirit who genuinely cares for people and wants to see them achieve what they’re capable of.
Have you been involved in any clubs, groups, and/or sports at Trent? If so, which ones?
I have played on the Trent Woman’s Varsity Volleyball team for four years. I have participated on an outdoor soccer intramural team, two years on a beach volleyball intramural team, and a few years on an intramural competitive volleyball team. I also attended Trent Christian Fellowship as often as I could, depending on my class schedule and volleyball practices.
What has your time at Trent meant to you? What are some of your favourite memories? What will you take with you from Trent?
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Trent. My favourite memories at Trent have been memories surrounding playing volleyball on the varsity team at Trent. These would include making solid friendships with the girls on the team, sharing laughs on bus trips, celebrating victories together and cheering each other up when we lost.
What are your future plans and aspirations? What do you hope to accomplish?
This summer I am traveling to Nampula, Mozambique to teach Grades 4-6 with Wycliffe Bible Translators and also work in a local orphanage. In September I am teaching in Calgary, Alberta. My future aspirations include teaching, and completing an additional qualification course to become a high school teacher. With summers off I plan to travel overseas to help in orphanages and teach the less fortunate. Africa has a huge place in my heart, and I am going to continue to reach out to that country the best that I can.
