Dr. Hasmet M. Uluorta is an Associate Professor of Political Studies and International Development Studies at Trent. He was previously a lecturer and Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of International Studies at the University of Miami, a Visiting Scholar in the Politics Department of the University of California, Santa Cruz, and was the Associate Director of the Center on Ethics at Stanford University.
Dr. Uluorta holds a B.A. in International Relations and a B.S.W. from the University of British Columbia, a M.A. in Politics of Alternative Development Strategies from the Institute of Social Studies, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from York University. Dr. Uluorta's scholarly interests include globalisation, theories of international relations, global political economy, employment/work strategies, American politics, and the socio-political impacts of new technologies.
Dr. Uluorta is an active member of the academic community at Trent, having served on Senate and as chair of Political Studies.
Dr. Uluorta joins the Trent Board of Governors, occupying a Faculty Seat, for a two-year term beginning July 1, 2022
