Gail Beggs has a passion for public service and a history of public sector leadership, including over 30 years of experience with the Ontario Public Service. Gail's public service leadership roles include Deputy Minister of the Ministry of the Environment, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and the Deputy Minister for the Aboriginal Affairs Secretariat. Gail was also the Chair, and separately the President and Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Clean Water Agency, and the Chair and Commissioner of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission. Gail is a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelor and Masters of Science.
For more than 10 years, Gail served on the board of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, including as Interim Chair, Vice Chair, Chair of the Governance and Corporate Responsibility and the People, Culture and Compensation Committees. Gail currently serves on the Board of the Condominium Management Regulatory Authority of Ontario, chairing the Governance Committee and as a member of the Audit and Risk Management Committee.
Since retiring from the OPS, Gail has continued her commitment to public service, volunteering with DeafBlind Services Ontario, serving on the Board of Forests Ontario, and providing leadership to provincial initiatives including planning for long-term care during the COVID-19 pandemic, climate change resilience, consumer protection, and transportation planning.
Gail is a resident of Toronto and enjoys time with her family at their cottage in Haliburton County.
Gail Beggs was appointed for a three-year term on the Board of Governors effective July 1, 2024, and reappointed to the Finance & Property Committee for an additional one-year term.
