Experiential Learning
100% of programs offer courses with hands-on career experience. Here are even more ways you can explore your career options and get real-world experience while you’re a student at Trent:
Placements & Internships
Students in nearly every program can earn academic credit in a variety of settings, including specialized internships. Our placement programs, popular for students majoring in Business, Forensics, and Biology, just to name a few, give students the opportunity to work and gain experience alongside thought leaders and business leaders. Imagine the career advantage you will gain through hands-on placements with banks, hospitals, Ontario Power Generation, and Pepsico, just to name a few.
Community-Based Research
Lead a project that makes a big impact with a community organization like Peterborough Police Service, Youth Emergency Shelter, City of Oshawa, Durham Food Bank, or local sustainability organizations and immigration support centres.
Learn Alongside the Experts
Conduct hands-on research with leading professors and researchers starting as early as your first year – assist in an archaeological dig in Belize, study medieval texts, or test samples in our Water Quality Centre.
Go International
Scale up your competitive edge as you incorporate international experiences with field placements, research projects, intensive language programs, and internships. Take on a world of experience including opportunities to do business in Japan, teach in England, or study marine life in Taiwan.
