There is a growing human resource demand for environmental professionals in general, and climate change specialists in particular. In 2016, the Environmental Careers Organization estimated that there were 258,724 environmental professionals in Canada, with over 43% of these working in organizations with 19 or fewer employees.*
Employers specifically identify climate change specialists as a position that was difficult to fill and over 33% of employers expect to increase the size of their environmental workforce in the next 24 months, versus 1.9% that expect to decrease it.
