Shelley Strain has shaped the role of sustainability at Trent University for the last 17 years. As Trent’s first Sustainability Coordinator, she established the Sustainability Office and brings extensive experience in program development, metrics development, circular economy, energy efficiency, and capacity/partnership building across the private, public, and not-for-profit sectors and award-winning environmental education and outreach efforts.
Shelley holds a B.Sc. in Biology and an Ecosystem Management Technology diploma from Fleming. She has earned several professional designations, including Certified Energy Manager, Certified Measurement and Verification Professional, LEED AP in Building Operations and Maintenance, Accredited Green Roof Professional, and a certificate in ESG Strategy. As a key resource on campus, Shelley is instrumental in advancing sustainability initiatives and practices.
