Trent University is leading the way in recovering valuable materials from the waste stream through effective waste management. With a strong commitment to sustainability, Trent consistently achieves impressive results.
Trent is required under Ontario Regulations 102/94 and 103/94 to perform an annual waste audit. These audits estimate the campus performance of reduction and diversion systems using samples of waste and collection data. Our audits demonstrate a remarkable diversion rate typically between 70-80%. You can check out our most recent audit here.
Our comprehensive, campus-wide recycling system is paired with a well-developed composting program, making it easy for everyone to contribute to waste reduction. The Sustainability Office supports Facilities’ efforts with annual education initiatives, orientation week activities, and ongoing audit management. Join us in making a difference and helping Trent University continue to lead in sustainability!
