Field Instructor Criteria
Field Instructors must have two years of experience in the Field and ideally have a Bachelors of Social Work. If a Field Instructors does not have a BSW or MSW, The Department of Social Work provides additional Social Work support/supervision to students. Field Instructors must also have the capacity to provide an hour of direct supervision to students per week.
Field Instructor Orientation and Support
To help Field Instructors prepare for their role and learn what is required during placement the Social Work Department will be holding virtual Field Instructor Orientations in September before placement starts. Field Instructors are welcome to come to any session that works for their schedule. There will be a recording made available to all Field Instructors as well.

Field Instructors will be provided with additional resources/supports before students start their placements, including a handbook, link to the Canadian Association for Social Work Education's virtual, self-paced Field Instructor Training course, and other resources.
