Trent University Announces New Director of Alumni Affairs

Trent Alumna Lee Hays to take on leadership role
effective July 1, 2011

Thursday, June 16, 2011, Peterborough

Trent University is pleased to announce the appointment of Trent alumna Ms. Lee Hays, ‘98 to the position of director, Alumni Affairs effective July 1, 2011.

Ms. Hays has been working at the University as the coordinator of Annual Giving, and most recently, as the assistant campaign manager for the Trent Community Sport and Recreation Centre.  She studied at Trent as a Lady Eaton College student from 1991 to 1995, majoring in Psychology. Lee has also been serving as vice-president, Campus Affairs, a volunteer position with the Trent University Alumni Association.

Of her new leadership position, Ms. Hays said, “In a few years, Trent will celebrate its 50th  Anniversary with close to 45,000 alumni. Trent is proud of the significant contributions that our diverse and talented alumni are making all over the world and appreciates their continued involvement in the life of the University.” She added, “I look forward to serving all of Trent's alumni to strengthen their lifelong engagement with the University.”

In this position, Lee will be responsible for promoting and enhancing relationships between Trent University and its alumni.  Through strategic communications and innovative chapter and regional programming, she will build ties with the University and assist Trent in achieving its mission, including advocacy, fundraising and community relations in support of University priorities.

Lee succeeds Tony Storey who will retire after 33 years of distinguished service to the University community, including 27 years in the Alumni Affairs office.

Dr. Steven E. Franklin, president and vice-chancellor at Trent, congratulated Mr. Storey on his pending retirement after over three decades of service.

“Tony has been provided unmatched leadership in his role as director of Alumni Affairs,” said Dr. Franklin. “Trent has benefited greatly from his superb guidance and vast institutional knowledge. We wish Tony all the best in his retirement and thank him for his dedicated service to our Alumni and the Trent community.”
