Red Hot Rugby Tournament Brings Ontario’s Best Players to Trent University

Prestigious senior high school tournament takes place at
Justin Chiu Stadium May 5

The Justin Chiu Stadium at Trent University will play host to the senior boy’s regional qualifying tournament, part of the Red Hot Rugby Tournament, the largest and most prestigious high school tournament in Ontario, on Thursday, May 5, 2011.
The regional qualifying tournaments are being held at several university and high school sites across the province and results will be used as one of the tools for seeding teams for the OFSAA Ontario championships.
“2011 marks the third consecutive year that Trent has been selected as one of the official tournament sites,” said Bill Byrick, director of Athletics at Trent University. “We are thrilled to once again be hosting this top-level senior tournament and to have the opportunity to showcase our amazing new athletics facilities to prospective student-athletes.”
Battling it out on Thursday at the Red Hot Senior Regional Tournament at Trent will be 16 teams from across the province, including local schools Thomas A. Stewart Secondary, St. Thomas Aquinas in Lindsay and Fenelon Falls. The winning four teams in their respective pools will compete in the Championship Finals on Sunday, May 8 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic High School in Maple, Ontario, located in the City of Vaughan.

The Championship Finals get underway on Sunday, May 8 at 9 am with the semi-finals. The Trent Division Championship Final is scheduled for 12 noon at St. Joan of Arc in Maple, Ontario.
