The Anne Shirley Theatre Company (ASTC), a student-led theatre group at Trent University, will present The Wedding Singer by Chad Beguelin and Tim Herlihy, starting Friday, March 25 at 8 p.m. with additional performances on Saturday, March 26 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and on Sunday, March 27 at 2 p.m.
The Wedding Singer is a musical comedy based on the 1998 movie staring Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. The story focuses on a 1980s wedding singer from New Jersey who was left at the alter and then fell in love with an engaged woman. The Trent production is co-directed by fourth-year Business Administration student, Kevin Ross and fourth-year English Literature student, Jessica Lynch. The cast, crew, and band of the production are Trent students, alumni, and faculty, and community members.
All performances will be held in Wenjack Theatre in Otonabee College at Trent University.
The community is welcome and encouraged to attend. Tickets are $10 for students and $12 for non-students. To reserve tickets please contact Sarah Blackhall at astc03@live.ca. Note that adult accompaniment is suggested for children under 14. Visit trentu.ca for directions.
The ASTC was founded by six Trent students in 2003 after a successful production of “Anne of Green Gables,” which inspired the name of the theatre company. The ASTC has produced a musical every year since 2003.
