Monday, March 7, 2011, Peterborough
Trent University is pleased to welcome the public to the Writers Reading Series presentation of alumnus Mr. Josh Trotter ’00, who will read from his debut poetry collection All This Could Be Yours, in the Traill College Junior Common Room on Wednesday, March 9, 2011, at 7 p.m., followed by a reception until 9:30 p.m.
Kicking off his tour of readings that will include Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, London, and Windsor, Mr. Trotter will first share his authentic voice with his alma mater at Trent. Mr. Trotter’s poetry is notable for both its fresh, contemporary style and its innovative take on traditional techniques and forms such as iambic pentameter and the sonnet. Released in January of 2011 from Biblioasis, All This Could Be Yours was selected in the National Post Top Five Poetry Pick.
A long-time resident of Peterborough, Mr. Trotter came to Trent University in 2000 and graduated with a B.A. in English. He recently moved to Montreal. He is the author of one previous chapbook.
The Department of English Literature at Trent University is delighted to present the Writers Reading Series for its 22nd season in Peterborough. These events bring award-winning and world-class authors for literary readings, critical/practical discussions and plain-old casual conversation.
All members of the community are invited to take advantage of this opportunity to see, hear, and meet these writers in relaxed and hospitable atmosphere, free of charge. Every reading features a book table, with copies of the authors’ latest publications available for sale.
Writers Reading is supported by the Canada Council, the Nind Fund, Traill College and participating academic departments of the University.
