FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Friday, January 29, 2010, Peterborough
Dr. Steven E. Franklin, president and vice-chancellor of Trent University, announced today that Dr. James Parker will continue to serve Trent University in a senior administrative role for the period September 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011 as vice president research and international.
Dr. Parker, a Canada Research Chair in Emotion and Health, has been a faculty member at Trent for 15 years, and has served with distinction at the vice presidential level since September 2008. Prior to which, he served a four-year term as associate vice president research. Dr. Parker holds B.A. (SFU), M.A. and Ph.D. (York) degrees in psychology.
This continuation of the appointment as vice-president research and international reflects changes in this portfolio, with the provost and vice-president academic portfolio assuming responsibility for the enrolment management and student services activities.
In the fall of 2010, a review process will begin to consider the position profile and mandate of the vice-president research and international position, and provide guidance in a search to appoint a vice-president effective July 1, 2011.
