German and Canadian Engagement in Afghanistan

Germany’s Deputy Head of Mission Joern Rhode to Present at Trent University on February 14

The Deputy Head of Mission from the German Embassy in Ottawa Joern Rhode will deliver a special presentation entitled “German and Canadian Engagement in Afghanistan: Common Goals, Different Approaches?” on Thursday, February 14, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. in the Lady Eaton College Pit at Trent University.
From 1983-1984 Mr. Rhode attended Trent as an exchange student from Freiburg University, where he earned his Masters degree. In 1988 he joined the German Foreign Service and was posted in several Asian regions, including Indonesia and Japan. Mr. Rhode has also assumed numerous portfolios for the German government, such as head of the German delegation for the European Economic Union, and foreign policy spokesman of the Social Democratic Party in the Bundestag (German parliament).
This event is open to all and there is no charge to attend. Lady Eaton College is located on the west bank of Symons Campus at Trent University.
