Monday, October 29, 2007, Peterborough
Trent University is hosting a special event this evening to celebrate the donation of a new photographic print entitled “Meltwater” by renowned astronaut, photographer and Trent University Chancellor, Dr. Roberta Bondar.
At a private, by-invitation-only reception, Dr. Bondar will unveil and speak about her new work which is the fourth in a series of donated prints focusing on the Canadian landscape. The print will become part of the University’s permanent art collection.
Science and photography have always been linked to Dr. Bondar’s life, and it was natural that one of Bondar’s assignments aboard the space shuttle Discovery in 1992 was to take photographs of Earth. In addition to her numerous scientific degrees, she studied professional nature photography at the Brooks Institute of Photography in California.
This remarkable new work will be on public display at Christensen Fine Art located at 432 George Street North until November 3. Members of the community are encouraged to visit the gallery to see Dr. Bondar’s work.
