Trent University Set to Welcome New Students for 07/08 Academic Year

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Trent Newcomers Begin Introductory Seminar Week (ISW) September 3

Thursday, August 30, 2007, Peterborough

On Monday, September 3 all new students and transfer students will arrive at Trent University to begin Introductory Seminar Week (ISW), a series of orientation activities that acclimatizes new students to the Trent environment.

ISW runs from Monday, September 3 to Saturday, September 8 and is for new students only. The week is designed to make the transition to university as comfortable as possible by offering a combination of University-wide and college-specific social events intermixed with condensed sample lectures of all first-year courses offered at Trent, a unique feature of Trent’s ISW activities. After sampling a variety of lectures, the students then make their final course registrations selections for the year. Over 175 student volunteers will live on campus for the duration of ISW, organizing events and assisting new students.

"With a combination of academic and social events, Trent's Orientation Program aims to prepare students for their first week of studies while exposing them to the diversity of our campus,” says Chris Glover, ISW Coordinator. “This year, new students will have the opportunity to explore what Trent truly has to offer by sampling lectures and participating in a variety of new events. I can't wait for our new students to arrive.”
