American Expert to Give Public Talk on U.S. Presidents in War and Peace

Professor Stephen Farnsworth Speaks at Trent on November 3

Dr. Stephen Farnsworth, the Fulbright Visiting Chair in Public Policy at McGill University and an Associate Professor of Political Science at the University of Mary Washington in Virginia, will deliver a public talk entitled “U.S. Presidents in War and Peace: Television News Coverage of Military and Foreign Policy” on Friday, November 3 at 1:30 p.m. in the Champlain College Senior Common Room at Champlain College at Trent University.
Prof. Farnsworth is the co-author of The Nightly News Nightmare: Network Television's Coverage of U.S. Presidential Elections, 1988-2000 and author of the forthcoming book Political Support in a Frustrated America. Prof. Farnsworth has 10 years' experience as a journalist, including working as a national reporter in Washington, D.C. He also has trained journalists in Ukraine, Armenia, and the Republic of Georgia for the U.S. Agency for International Development and has served on a pre-election assessment of political conditions in Cambodia for the National Democratic Institute. His special interest in the media and politics includes the political impact of mass communication.
Prof. Farnsworth’s talk is sponsored by the Department of Politics at Trent University. The event is open to the public and free to attend.
