Residence Stay Extensions
If you require an extension to depart residence later than 24 hours after your last exam, you must send an email residence@trentu.ca to request a late-stay extension. This request must be received by December 4, 2024, at 8:00 A.M. EST.
You will only receive an email reply if you are NOT granted the stay extension approval.

Leaving Residence for the Winter Break
Please complete the following prior to your departure for the winter break:
- Report any outstanding maintenance items.
- Close and lock all windows.
- Open your blinds/curtains (unless you are on the first floor).
- Clean all dishes and your room prior to departure to avoid any health concerns due to food residue.
- Ensure that all garbage and recyclables are removed from your room and/or your apartment.
- Remove any food that will spoil from your refrigerator(s) (dispose of it in the garbage or take it home). We recommend that you remove all food from your fridge and not restock until you return in January to avoid food spoilage in the event of a power outage.
- Please do not unplug your fridge.
- Ensure all non-perishable food items are well sealed properly and stored on a shelf or in a cupboard. Do not leave open boxes or bags of food out, as this can be an invitation for pests.
- Unplug your computer and other electronics to protect them from possible power surges.
- Lock all door(s) and turn off all lights in your space before leaving.
Housing staff will enter your bedroom/living space after your departure to ensure that the above safety items have been completed and perform any maintenance required.

Returning to Campus
A friendly reminder that when you return to campus, do not forget your keys and access card.
If you return to campus without your keys, it may result in a lock change and $450.00 in maintenance fees charged to your student account.
New Roommates
If you are in a suite or a double room with a vacant bed, please expect to have a new roommate starting January 4, 2025. You may receive a roommate as part of our Winter 2025 residence application, or as a part of our Winter 2025 room transfer process.
If there is a vacant bedspace in your room or apartment, housing staff may enter to inspect this space during business hours.
If you are in a double room with no roommate, ensure your belongings are on your side of the room. Failure to leave the vacant portion of your room unoccupied may result in additional fees being charged to your account, as staff will need to prepare this space for a new arrival.
Students may not receive notice in advance of receiving a new roommate, so any student with a vacant space in their room/suite should be prepared to receive a new roommate at any time.
Safe Travel
If you choose to travel for the winter break, we ask that you be extra vigilant. We look forward to seeing you in the new year!
