David McNabCourse Instructor I began policing in 1987 and I worked as a constable throughout my career in Haileybury, Wasaga Beach, Bancroft, and Peterborough detachments. I was a detective in the Central Region Crime Unit for two years and a member of the Central Region Crisis Negotiation Team for ten years. I occasionally filled in as team leader, facilitating the training of and deployment of crisis negotiators during that time. This role provided specialized training in negotiating, de-escalation, and crisis resolution. I retired after thirty years of policing, eager to start a new chapter. I have been teaching in the Forensics program at Trent University since 2020. It has been exciting and rewarding to share what I have learned about applying the law and about communication, particularly with persons in crisis. |
