Adrian BorlesteanLaboratory Demonstrator As a two-time alumnus of Trent University, I have spent a long time studying and working in Peterborough at Trent University. My background includes both Biology and Forensics. I help organize the labs for several different courses in the department including FRSC1011H, FRSC2020H, FRSC2030H, FRSC3800H, & FRSC4110H. I’m always available to aid TAs in their labs or to meet with students that may have questions about our labs. I’m always happy to meet a new cohort of students every year, and help get them ready for Forensic Science at Trent. |

Lesley HewettLaboratory Demonstrator I received my B.Sc. (Hons) in Forensic Science from Trent in 2008 and I have held the position of laboratory demonstrator in the Forensic Science department since 2010. In this role, I provide a range of support services for lab-based courses, which currently include the third- and fourth-year crime scene, fingerprinting, DNA and bloodstain pattern analysis courses. In parallel to my career, I am working part-time towards an M.Sc. in Environmental and Life Sciences. Under the supervision of Dr. Aaron Shafer, my project involves investigating microbial signatures related decomposition and post-mortem interval estimation. |

Sylvie JohnstonUndergraduate Academic Administrative Assistant Sylvie is responsible for performing a variety of administrative, budgetary, human resource management, data analysis, event planning, and clerical duties related to the operation of the department. |

Karen McQuade SmithPlacement Coordinator As the Placement Coordinator I am responsible for coordinating the experiential learning that happens outside of regular class hours and off campus. I work with undergraduate and graduate students in the department to help them explore different career options and find networking and placement opportunities. Sumiko PolaccoForensic Law Teaching Assistant I received both my B.Sc. (Hons) in Forensic Science and in M.Sc. in Environmental and Life Sciences from Trent University. During this time, I was apart of the Illes, Wilson, and Stotesbury research groups where we focused on developing forensic blood substitute materials for educational and commercial applications. I have held teaching roles with the Forensic Science Department since 2016. I am also involved with the Forensic Science enrichment and summer camps, and sit on the Education and Informatics Committee for the Canadian Society of Forensic Science. I am pleased to continue my Trent experience as Teaching Support for the undergraduate law courses (FRSC 1100, 2100, 3110, 4312; BScFS). |
