NEW to The Ceilie in 2024 – Otonabeer
Otonabeer is a Trent Alumni crafted pale ale beer named after the Otonabee River that flows through the heart of Trent University. This beer is brewed using both Cascade and Centennial hops and malting barley containing AC Metcalfe barley that was developed by Prof Chris Metcalfe’s father in the 1960’s.
“Over its history, 44 metric tonnes of AC Metcalfe malting barley have been grown, resulting in the production of 300 billion bottles of beer.”
The hops and barley used to make this beer are currently being established at the Trent Research Farm to be used in future production of this beer. The brewery will donate proceeds to establish a bursary to support agro-food experiential learning.
