A future shaped by Trent's educational ecosystem
Andrew Clark '21, Bachelor of Environmental Science & Studies (BESS)
"My science-based courses gave me experience with standard environmental sampling procedures, analytical techniques, and report writing. My courses in arts and humanities allowed me to better understand relevant environmental and planning policies and how environmental issues manifest themselves in our society."
Mykhailo Rangaiev ’18, Bachelor of Science, Sustainable Agriculture and Food Systems; now completing a Master of Science in the Environmental and Life Sciences graduate program
"My experience at Trent has been filled with an incredible amount of experiential learning that gave me not just theoretical but also practical knowledge. Ample lab and field work experience, which I acquired during my undergraduate research, gave me a confident foundation for my future career in the agriculture sector. It was the combination of amazing faculty mentorship and research opportunities that encouraged me to pursue my master’s degree at Trent."
Ester Wilson '17, Bachelor of Science, Environmental Geoscience
"Due to the small class sizes, I connected with professors and made good friends with my classmates. I also learned how to believe in myself, how to trust in my ability and test my potential. I learned how to work in professional settings, independently and collaboratively. I learned how to persevere and problem-solve. I wish I could go back to my high school self and tell her: 'You can do it! And you will.'"
Freddy Liu '14, Bachelor of Science, Water Sciences
My accomplishments and experience started at Trent and the TSE. Without the flexibility or multi-disciplinary approach to my education and a nurturing environment created by faculty, I would have never been able to find my passion in water and be where I am today. With smaller class sizes, I felt more comfortable to reach out directly to my instructors about course work and network with professors. Despite my own uncertainties at the beginning, Trent encouraged me to take on challenges, apply my knowledge, and not to be afraid to fail!
Anastasia Kaschenko '12, Bachelor of Environmental Science & Studies (BESS)
"I could never have known I would end up where I am. But that's the benefit of having mentors in your life - like those I had at Trent - ones that have a bigger vision and can guide you towards things that are really good for you and your life."
