As a temporary resident in Canada, you can invite your family or friends to Canada to visit you.
All visitors to Canada require an entry document to enter. The document required is dependent on where the visitor is from and how they are travelling to Canada. Visit the IRCC website to determine which document your family member requires. Most visitors will require a temporary resident visa (TRV) which is often called a visitor visa or entry visa.
Review the “Inviting Your Family to Canada Checklist” to understand the visa application process and documents required.
Please note that International Student Advising can only provide advice to international students and their legal dependent family members: spouses, common-law partners, and children. If your family/friends or supporters need support with their application, they can connect with a Regulated Canadian Immigration Consultant or other authorized representative.
