Normal registration takes place through MyTrent. In certain circumstances, however, registration may require special arrangements.
For workshop courses – e.g. 3111Y, 3175Y, 3184H – If a student would like to register for a course but does not have the required prerequisites, they can add the course to their Preferred Sections using the Search and Register function in myTrent. They will then go to Academics > Forms and fill out the Prerequisite Waiver Request form indicating their reasons for wanting to take the course (e.g., academic development, career goals, person interest) and their previous relevant experience. If approved is granted, the student will be notified, and must then register within the specified timeline.
For courses with enrollment limits, any eligible students will be able to enroll until the available spaces are filled. Normally, additional spaces become available, and all eligible students should place themselves on the course waitlist using MyTrent. Students on the waitlist will receive program authorization for admission to the limited enrollment course according to the following criteria:
- Declared major
- Academic year
- Academic performance
- Other factors related to student academic interests
Enrollments from the waitlist may not be confirmed until August, depending on demand for admission.
For enrollment in 4000 series Cultural Studies courses, students will normally be joint or single honors majors in their fourth year who have completed 14.0 university credits. Exceptions can be made given permission of the instructor and notice to the Chair of the program.
