Peter Gzowski College celebrated its official opening in October 2004 as the only Trent college without a crest. Instead, this new college chose to use a piece of art created by Joshim Kakegamic in 1975. A classic and recognizable piece of Kakegamic’s work, the piece features a loon with outstretched wings ready to take flight.
While Kakegamic’s work might be the most recognizable piece of art associated with the college (and the original can be found on level 3 of the building), Gzowski opened its doors with a stated dedication to feature the work of Indigenous artists. Find out more about the Anishisnaabe artists featured in the Enwayaang building by connecting with the Gzowski College office.
