Champlain Common Spaces
From the Great Hall to the Junior Common Room - all spaces are open for students, staff and faculty.
Champlain College Office
CCS 202.1-4 | Mon – Fri, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. & 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The College Office is the first point of contact for all Champlain students looking for assistance on campus. Located upstairs from the Great Hall on the second floor in the South building, the College Office is a welcoming area and a hub of student activity.
We are here to help students looking to book appointments with our Academic Advisor and Academic Skills teams. Our knowledgeable College Ambassadors help students understand and navigate myTrent, including features like course selection and course management.

The Great Hall
Mon – Sun 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.
One of the most inspiring spaces on campus, the Great Hall is the go-to choice for Champlain College student when deciding where to eat a meal, relax with a podcast, or meet up with a study group.
The hall is where many Champlain College events and traditions take place and is often the site of information fairs or academic displays.
Junior Common Room (JCR)
CCS 207 | Mon – Sun 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Open to all Champlain students during regular building hours, the Junior Common Room is located on the second-floor of south building, with outdoor access down the stairs from the main Bata podium.
This room is a warm, inviting space where you can relax and unwind. Here you will find couches, a TV, foosball table, board games and areas to study or just hangout.
Senior Common Room/Seasoned Spoon (SCR)
Mon - Fri 11 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., while classes are in session.
Home of the Seasoned Spoon, the Senior Common Room is available to all students, staff and faculty who are looking to find an alternate place to retreat or find inspiration.
Throughout the day, you will find peers studying in this space or enjoying a hot meal - and workshops in the evenings. This room is available to book from myTrent during closed hours.
Champlain Kitchen
CCS 202.9
The Champlain Kitchen includes a fridge, dish washer, microwave, toaster oven, plates/bowls/cutlery, and a food bank. This space is open to all students and staff.
Champlain Cabinet Office
CCS 202.6
Champlain Cabinet office collaborates closely with the College Office to ensure that the College traditions are being upheld and to act as your active voice around campus. The College Cabinet is your elected government who sits on many essential committees across the university. Located within the Fireplace Lounge, the cabinet holds regular office hours so they can best communicate with you.

Fireplace Lounge

Located adjacent to the Champlain Cabinet Office, this room hosts some very comfortable lounge furniture making it the perfect place for studying or relaxing with friends. Pax is also commonly found hanging out here, looking to keep students company - his serene nature makes him the perfect study-buddy.
Colour and black/white printers and scanners are also located here for student use.
Morton Meeting Room

The Morton Meeting Room is a large meeting room with AV and speakers open for any department or student group to book through the myTrent portal.
Champlain Living Learning Commons (CLLC)
CCS 201
The Champlain Living Learning Commons area is a quiet study area for students. The room overlooks the Great Hall and has a small terrace looking over the Otonabee River (access to the terrace must be requested through the College Office). The room has movable tables and chairs as well as a projector and speaker stand for your department’s next guest lecturer.
