- Occupational and Career Resources in Careerspace like career quizzes, Career Cruising and TypeFocus on Mytrent – Supports – Careerspace.
- Schedule an appointment with the Career Counsellor through the Student Experience Portal.
- Update your resume using resources like Tip Sheets and sample resumes.
- Book a résumé critique at Careerspace so that you’re prepared for summer or part-time employment opportunities.
- Talk with people in different career fields. Consider registering for the Life After Trent: Mentoring Program.
Tips for Success
- Focus on good grades from the start; it is difficult to recover if you fall behind. If you’re experiencing difficulty, contact Academic Skills right away.
- Enroll in courses you enjoy.
- Get to know your professors.
- Develop skills through involvement in student organizations, part-time/summer work, and volunteer experiences.
- Start compiling a record of your achievements and skills.
- During the summers, your jobs should help you develop a good work ethic, career-related skills, and key contacts for future job searches. Start your summer job search early, since many career-oriented summer jobs have early deadline dates.
- Take part in experiential opportunities.
