Battle of the Bands - Rules

  

Bands:

    1. Bands must consist of at least two registered students currently attending Trent University.
    2. Bands can consist of individuals from any college, but must pick one college to represent in the competition.
    3. Bands must bring their own sound equipment (i.e. amps, cables, pedals, etc. to the competition) TUMS will provide a drum kit throughout the evening of the competition.

Auditions: Applicants must

    1. Submit a CD to TUM mailbox, TCSA Office OR email trentumusic@gmail.com with a link to a my space page.
    2. Maximum of three songs for submission are permitted.
    3. All submissions must be received by the audition deadline to be considered.
    4. Maximum of two bands to represent each college will be selected for the compeition.
    5. Bands can consist of individuals from any college, but must pick one college to represent in the competition.
    6. Bands must bring their own sound equipment (i.e. amps, cables, pedals, etc.) TUMS will provide a drum kit throughout the evening of the competition.

Selection Process :

    1. All submissions will be reviewed by the TUMS executive and successful groups will be contacted.

Venue :

    1. The venue will be provided at no costs to the bands in the competition.
    2. Sound and lighting technicians and MC will be provided for the event at no costs to the bands in the compeition.
    3. A green room will be available prior to the bands performance.

Competition:

    1. Bands will be advised ahead of time when they are scheduled to perform
    2. Any band included in the compeition should be prepared to play a set list of two songs. Each Band is given approximately 10 minutes to perform in the competition.
    3. Bands participating in the competition are encouraged to explore any genre of music and to invite their friends and members of college to support their performance

Prizes:

Prizes are reviewed on an annual basis and will depend on funding available at that time. Prizes are awarded to the band as a group, not individually.

Prizes for the 2011 competition:

1st Place - $500.00 plus photo shoot and 8 hrs of recording time at a local studio selected by TUMS.

2nd Place - $300.00

2nd Place - $200.00
