In Law courses, use the documentation method indicated in your assignment instructions or in your course syllabus. If none is given, it is best to follow the documentation method preferred in the discipline that most informs the essay that you are writing (Chicago style for Politics or APA for Business).
Note that citations to Canadian laws should follow the form set out in the Canadian Legal Research and Writing Guide, available through CanLII or the Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation (also known as the McGill Guide, available in print copy at Bata Library). The University of British Columbia has a helpful guide to legal citation.
