Have you noticed a 7-digit number on all the Trent admissions letters and emails you’ve received? That’s your official Trent student number. And while you won’t feel like just a number on our campus, your unique student ID number is what gives you access to important information about your degree, student services and campus events, and is also required for writing exams. So keep your number handy—and if you can—memorize it!
MyTrent is your student portal, giving you direct access to your academic records, email, information about coursework and more. You can activate your MyTrent account using your student number and personal email address.
A Gmail icon will appear in your account on the MyTrent portal (trentu.ca/mytrent) approx. 3-months prior to the start of your courses at Trent. Once your email is active, you’ll start to receive all your Trent info at this email. Your profs will email you here as well.

International students coming into Canada will require the following documentation:
The LOA must be used to apply for your study permit as it was specifically designed for Canadian immigration officials. You should apply for your Study Permit as soon as you receive your admission letters. In some countries, it can take over three months to complete all immigration procedures.
Do not leave for Canada until your application for a Study Permit has been approved.
More InformationIt is recommended that you open a bank account in Oshawa upon arrival. It is easy to do by visiting a local branch and applying on the spot. Normally, you need to present your passport, study permit and your Trent University ID card. Many banks offer programs for international students.

Think of your TrentU Card as your campus passport. With your new student ID card, you’ll get access to on-campus services, from printing and photocopying at the library to working out at various City of Oshawa recreational facilities. By loading money onto your TrentU student ID, you’ll also be able to use your card at a number of restaurants, cafes and shops on and off campus.
You can get your TrentU card when school starts, but why wait? Within a month of classes starting, submit a passport-style photo of yourself on MyTrent by clicking on Services and then TrentU Card Photo Submission. Once received, your card will be processed and ready for pick-up when you arrive. You can also visit trentu.ca/trentucard for TrentU card tips, photo requirements and more.
Full-time students are issued a separate transit card that provides unlimited access to Durham Region Transit during the academic year (September-April). Your DRT Pass will be available by the first week of school.

Get InvolvedIt’s never too early to show your school spirit! Be sure to stop by the Rack and Shelf in the Trent Durham Student Association office (room 122). The Rack and Shelf is where you’ll be able to get your Trent S spirit on with loads of Trent University Durham clothing and swag accessories to choose from—all at a reasonable price. You can even stop by the Rack and Shelf throughout the year to purchase event tickets and buy and sell used books.
Whether you’re moving a long distance or are commuting from home in Peterborough, becoming a Trent University student is an exciting new milestone in your life. It can also be a time of great transition, and for some students this can feel overwhelming. Having the support of your family, friends or other loved ones can help make all the difference when embarking on your new educational journey.
