Office 365 includes Microsoft Lync!
Good Afternoon All,
I am pleased to report that the departmental migrations to our new Office 365 platform are going well and would like to make you aware that Office 365 is not only about e-mail, but also includes other exciting Microsoft products. One of the products that we are jointly rolling out with e-mail is called Microsoft Lync.
Microsoft Lync is a personal communications tool, allowing you to connect with people from your pc, tablet, or mobile device. Lync’s basic features include instant messaging (IM), voice and video calls, and online conference meetings.
Lync actively integrates with your new Outlook (Office 365) email account and provides you with a feature called Real-time Presence. Presence makes it easier for you to find contacts, check their availability, and connect with them using email, IM, or voice/video calls.
You will receive Lync once you have been migrated to Office 365. You will also receive a welcome message that will provide you with further instructions on access, training, and help resources. No action is required of you at this time.
For those users that have made use of Groupwise Messenger, a similar product currently offered through Novell, please be aware that you can continue to use Groupwise Messenger following your Office 365 migration ie. you can run both Microsoft Lync and Groupwise Messenger on the same machine. We will discontinue the support and availability of Groupwise Messenger shortly following the conclusion of Trent’s migration to Office 365 and will provide more information as that date approaches.
Thank You
