AirTrent. More Accessible and Easier to Configure
Good Afternoon All,
We are excited to announce that the WIFI networks at Trent are changing to become more accessible and easier to configure. Our current campus-wide WIFI networks, include; AirTrent-Express, AirTrent, and Eduroam. All these network require a login. Additionally, AirTrent and Eduroam require additional configuration for set-up.
More Accessible
Starting on September 1st, the AirTrent-Express wireless network will be replaced with AirTrent-Guest. The new AirTrent-Guest network will not require a login and can be used by anyone on campus. Due to the open access of this network though, only internet traffic will be allowed through this network i.e.. traffic associated with standard web browsing. Additionally, this network will have limited speed as compared to our AirTrent network. For broader access, higher speed levels and better security, it is recommended that students, faculty, and staff continue to use AirTrent and not AirTrent-Guest as their chosen WIFI network. Additionally, guests from other Eduroam institutions are still encouraged to use our Eduroam WIFI network.
Easier to Configure
Starting on September 1st, the AirTrent and Eduroam WIFI networks will become easier to configure. To configure either of these networks, please use the following steps.
1) Connect to the AirTrent-Guest network.
2) Open your web browser and follow the instructions to use the wizard to correctly set-up AirTrent or Eduroam on your chosen device.
For students, faculty, and staff AirTrent is recommended as the WIFI network of choice. For guests from other Eduroam institutions, Eduroam is recommended as the WIFI network of choice.
Please contact the IT Helpdesk at extension 1010, or by email to it@trentu.ca if you have any questions.
Thank You
