I have an interest in Medieval history, and I felt that studying in England, particularly in Canterbury, gave me a great opportunity to pursue that interest. 

I’ve always wanted to travel and the opportunity to travel while in school sounded amazing. 

I had always wanted to travel outside of Canada and test my limits when put into a completely new environment. I also love seeing and experiencing new cultures and foods.

I have always dreamt of eventually working in England as my studies are focused on British history. Study abroad really caught my attention as it would allow me to experience living in the country short term to see if I enjoyed it while still having support both from my home and host universities if I ever needed help. 

Trent’s study abroad program was made known to me and after further exploration of the benefits I decided to study abroad to travel, gain once in a lifetime experience and meet new people from all over the world.

I wanted to travel and experience school and life somewhere new as well as meet new people. 

Studying abroad was a dream that I had since I was in grade 10. I had always talked about traveling and going to see places and I thought doing that during my schooling was a prime opportunity.

I figured studying abroad would be a great way to immerse myself in the actual physical locations important to the literature and history I was learning about back home in Canada, while also gaining a new perspective on what university looks like in an institution vastly different from Trent.

I have always wanted to travel around the world and see what is out there, I wanted to expand my mind and consider the possibilities I may have in the future. 

I wanted to study abroad because I wanted to travel and have the experience of living in another country. I was inspired to do it when I saw an old friend of mine do it and it seemed like a great way to travel and a good opportunity to go to a different school and take courses that may not be offered at home. 

In my opinion, the United Kingdom is the best place to travel abroad for an advanced education. 

   I wanted to know what it was like to study in a different country and to meet new people and explore new places. I wanted to grow as a person. 

I live at home and commute to the Durham campus and was feeling a little bit of FOMO from all my friends who had gone away for school and stayed in residence. I was craving an opportunity for independence and adventure, and there was nothing more perfect that taking a semester abroad!

I did a short two-week exchange in high school to Taiwan and had such an amazing experience that I knew I wanted to study abroad again. I wanted to learn about different cultures, meet people from around the world, and learn how to adapt in a new environment.
