The HECHMET chemical inventory program is now available for departmental staff and individual faculty and their labs to use.
If you wish to use this program please contact Chris Williams at Cwilliams@trentu.ca to arrange for you and your labs access. Details on HECHMET can be found in the Science Safety Program tab, under the Chemical Safety Program.
Chemical Ordering Instructions (as of Dec. 2019)
When ordering chemicals, regardless of the procurement method used (purchase order, credit card, FisherFast, online or over the phone) it is important that in the "Attention" section of any order that the following information be entered:
- CH - indicating the material is a chemical
- The 2 or 3 letter Building designation code (ESB, DNA, LHS, CSB, or SC)
- Room number where the material will be stored. Include the wing or block designation as well.
- The last name of the Principal Investigator (Faculty member)
For example, if you were to order Hydrochloric acid for room A 202.1 in the Environmental Sciences Building for Prof John Doe then you would enter into either the "Attention" section
"CHESBA202.1DOE"
Please ensure that you are also using the Campus Shipping and Receiving Center address on all your orders.

Science Safety Program
The Science Safety Program contains policies, procedures and information pertaining to laboratory safety, biosafety, radiation and X-ray safety, chemical safety and overall safety training requirements.
