November 11, 2013 – Presidential Position Profile Released
The work of the Presidential Search Committee continues as set out in its project plan. I am pleased to report that this work has reached an important milestone, with release of the position profile and advertisement through prominent online and print sources. The position profile was finalized following consultation with a wide range of stakeholders, including faculty, students, staff, alumni, community leaders, and other individuals and organizations within our extended community over the last month. The Search Committee sincerely appreciates the many views and perspectives that were contributed through in-person conversations, phone calls, and online submissions. We were very encouraged by the deep commitment to Trent and the sense of optimism and opportunity that was evident throughout the feedback. These elements were key in understanding requirements for the position and in shaping the final position profile. With the release of the position profile and job advertisement, the Presidential Search Committee’s work now turns to identifying potential candidates who fit the profile and who will bring the leadership experience, skills and attributes needed to ensure a distinctive and distinguished future for Trent. This phase of the recruitment is exciting but also highly sensitive and confidential. Along with their team of researchers, our search consultants Malcolm Bernstein and Dave Marshall at Amrop Knightsbridge are working proactively to identify potential candidates and to follow-up on all names suggested. The Search Committee will meet next in early December to consider what we anticipate will be a strong pool of outstanding candidates. The Presidential Search Committee welcomes suggestions for Trent’s next President and Vice-Chancellor.
